[It's...almost lighthearted. He knows, of course, she wouldn't. But...he's learning, really. He's learning.]

Natsuo and I had a long talk last night...I'll do the same tonight, I just need a bit of time to gather my own thoughts first.

[He's not exactly in ideal "therapist" mode, right now.]

[ despite how recently they just lost six people, waver can't help but snort at the comment. yes, he understands that it's a joke and it somehow manages to get a smirk out of him.

however, it doesn't last long. his expression falls once more when he hears ion talking about natsuo, and he supposes that he has to be the one to play therapist this time. ]

That's fair. I don't think...any of us expected what happened today. You need to let him gather his thoughts, too-- that child's heart has been shattered too many times these past few days.

Yes. I'm worried for him...he doesn't realize how much weight his own words have. Still, I think he'll bounce back just fine.

[Just thinking about it makes Ion tired. He leans harder on his staff.]

I think he understands a bit better now just why...what he was saying at the trial was such an ill-thought plan, now.

[After all, with what he witnessed today...with how he reacted to that...how could he claim even a single life for himself?]
