[It's pretty late when Ion hears about what happened--or, not what happened so much as evidence that a thing happened on two people who he really cares about! A lot of people area really putting themselves through insanity today, it seems. Ion, wheezing and exhausted in his haste, finds Varian as soon as he can.

[ honestly Varian should probably logically ask ion how his power works and if there's any downside before he does this

On the other hand. Literally he doesn't know what he'll do if his arm gets infected. He can't cut it off? maybe he'll just die??? Just dying seems fine. ]
