Week 0, Friday Post-Investigation - Varian

[Ion had to take a seat as soon as he could, his head pounding and body aching, but from where he's placed himself temporarily at the bottom stair of the grand foyer, there's plenty of opportunity to flag down others. So when he sees Varian, he beckons to him.]

I'm sorry if I worried you, before.

[ Varian is quick to wave him off ]

Oh, no, don't-- don't worry about me. I'm glad you weren't... well. [ a corpse now encased in glass. hm. that's an image that he wishes he hadn't seen. ] Are you sure you're alright? You don't look so good.

Oh, yes, I'm as well as I can be. I've always had a weak constitution, so this is pretty natural for me...

[He smiles even though it's not exactly a pleasant thing to have to admit. And he doesn't want Varian to know that he's kind of sore all over from some roughhousing that he was unconscious for so he'll leave it at that.]

I only regret not having had a chance to talk earlier, before the circumstances became even more pressing than they were.

I'm just glad my first impression of you wasn't a corpse. [ that might be a bit too blunt, but. he doesn't know how else to express it. ] There's a lot of people I haven't spoken to still.

I'm thankful for that, too.

[That would've been a real buzzkill for the both of them. He doesn't mind the bluntness.]

It's the same for me. But everyone I have spoken too so far has been worth getting to know...so I hope the rest of your introductions are a bit less stressful.

Well, considering the context in which we are meeting everyone, less stressful is not what I'd expect? [ murder castle. ] But I'm definitely rooting for it.
