Week 1, Friday Post-Investigation - Waver

Lord El-Melloi, how are you feeling?

[Ion, being Ion, is doing what he does best: putting his concern for others and their emotional and physical well-being above his own. Also hi, Waver, if you were still trying to figure out an easy way to tell the two of them apart, this one now has scars covering the right side of his face.]

I'm saddened by today's findings, but nonetheless, I hope our spirits haven't grown too despondent.

El-Melloi the Second.

[ waver obviously takes note of the scars on ion's face, but make an effort to mention them. the last thing he wants to do is be rude and point out something like that. ]

I am...worried, if I must say the truth. Two victims is something truly unfortunate. [ a pause. ] How about you, Ion? How are you feeling?

Not to worry. It is simply that without it, the title becomes too heavy for my shoulders to bear.

[ he nods slowly, agreeing. ]

It is natural to feel that way. If things follow yesterday's pattern, then we should be seeing a trial and an execution in the following days. [ he sighs, closing his eyes. ] How regrettable.

It is alright. To be quite honest, many others would not wish to have their number added. For some, it is always important to come first.

[ but he pushes the subject away with a quick wave of his hand, and the lord pays attention to the more pertinent issue at hand. ]

Justice has never been what they, our hosts, have wanted. That is why they referred to this as a "battle royale"-- justice matters not when you may be killed at any moment.

It's why Lady Kyouka burned her and her partner's tapestries. Paranoia.

[ waver himself sighs. he's also stressed, no doubt about it, but decides not to show it. if he has to force himself to be a pillar for these children, then he will. ]

Not only that... it is very likely that the culprits do not act entirely on their free will.
