[ Ion doesn't quite startle, but he blinks up as Ion comes in. Wow, actually showing initiative for once, surprising. Maybe there's hope for you yet, counterpart.
He looks a little worn out, as if he's been pushing his limits for the week, but he shakes that off as quickly as he can and waves the other Ion into his room, inclining his head shallowly in acknowledgment. ]
[Ion's getting there, little by little! Confidence is hard, but he's trying.]
I mostly talk with Sandalphon each week, but I did send a letter to Beauty and Beast to try and learn more about them. Here's everything that I've gotten.
[He doesn't expect most of this to be helpful...but he wants the two of them to be transparent with one another, so he presents each of the letters that he's received. the first, of course, is the one from the trial, but he provides a second and third from Sandalphon as well as a final letter from Beauty and Beast.]
It does sound like that's what I asked, isn't it? No, I addressed them as friends, and said I hoped to get to know more about them, so we could better determine how to ultimately communicate with them and help bring this game to its most ideal conclusion.
[ He pauses again in the middle of trying to mentally substitute for the missing words, frowning mildly. (He's had too much practice with this as of late. It's terrible.)
... but it eventually gives way to a wan sort of smile. ]
I suppose clear communications and a good working relationship would certainly help to facilitate such a thing...
They're our age, though... how strange. [ but also, perhaps not surprising, considering the people they've written to. ] Perhaps it's simply that the book in the library makes the story out to seem so... aged.
Would you mind terribly if I made copies of these?
You can share them with whoever you'd like, as well, of course. I think it's important to be open and honest with anyone here who we feel we can trust.
[Ion's, of course, far too trusting for his own good, but, point stands.]
We're all after the same things, after all. I'd like to help in any way that you think I can!
[ He's essentially going to knock politely to let the other know of his presence before showing himself in. Something something su casa es mi casa, that's how it goes right
his head tilts, inquisitive and curious, like the other Ion is something fascinating to study. ]
... I was wondering if you could tell me about your objective. Or objectives, if you've already accomplished some of them?
[ At least that's something they have in common, that odd sense of unflappableness despite whatever circumstances they may be in. Was it really so long ago that they both were unsettling a certain angel with it? ]
Week 5, Thursday
This isn't much, but I thought you'd like to know what mail I've gotten lately.
[He still feels bad about that last, uh, trial reveal.]
gOD WHY DID I SLEEP ON THIS I'M SO TIRED
He looks a little worn out, as if he's been pushing his limits for the week, but he shakes that off as quickly as he can and waves the other Ion into his room, inclining his head shallowly in acknowledgment. ]
... I would be grateful for that, thank you.
[ ...hm. He sounds sincere. ]
What is it that you have to share?
your tired body doesn't want us to thread

ion: is dying; me: is dying ooc
Our partners are quite the busybodies, aren't they.
[ Sandalphon writes more letters. Fitzgerald is entirely too wordy. But as he skims the letters, namely the one from bed and breakfast, he pauses. ]
What did you write to them about? Who they were, or whether they wanted to be friends?

[ oh, well, that's to the point ]

Just one. It's difficult, so I haven't been able to complete it.
[He doesn't seem particularly bothered, at least, by the abrupt question.]
no subject
Difficult to accomplish, or difficult to justify?
no subject
[It really has been a long time since then. But some things simply never seem to change.]
It isn't something I can achieve alone, and not something that I'm sure I'm capable of simply in terms of what I'm willing to do.

[ he settles back against the wall, making himself comfortable there as he continues to gaze thoughtfully at his counterpart. ]
Perhaps I've simply been lucky. Or perhaps our hosts favor one side of this war over the others.
